The Electrical Engineer holds responsibility for collaborating with client project teams and the design team, including designers and CAD operators, to develop comprehensive designs. An ideal candidate should be proficient in effectively communicating with department members, general contractors, architects, and other stakeholders involved in assigned projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) and/or healthcare electrical design for buildings.
  • Active P.E. License (Professional Engineer) in California in good standing, with the ability to register in other states.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with building power systems, signal systems, and telecommunications.
  • Profound knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and building codes as they relate to electrical design, covering aspects such as over-current protection, conductor sizing, conduit fill, derating, and clearance.
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting and standard commercial products and their practical application.
  • In-depth understanding of general construction practices, various building types, and electrical construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of signal systems, including telecommunications, electrical drafting symbols, and fundamental electrical or construction principles.
  • Proficiency in electrical components, including familiarity with NEMA types and sizes, as well as lighting.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with Rex Moore Project Managers, Electricians, project team members, and clients.
  • Proficiency in standard office computer-based systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

About Key Responsibilities:

  • Create intricate plans based on input from clients, design-build sales staff, and personal expertise while adhering to department standards.
  • Develop designs encompassing building power systems, lighting design, load calculations, signal systems, and telecommunications to ensure compliance with electrical code requirements and budget constraints.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and collaborate with various company personnel, such as Project Managers, Estimators, Electrical Supervisors, and Foremen.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, department members, Electrical Superintendents, Foremen, and other team members.
  • Provide leadership and training for other engineering team members.
  • Conduct lighting analysis and select appropriate fixtures.
  • Perform load analysis on complex projects and generate panel schedules.
  • Assist and train other department members.
  • Identify cost-effective design elements or strategies.
  • Draft job specifications and price design-build proposals.
  • Support design/build sales staff by creating AutoCAD plans for presentations.
  • Collaborate with the department Coordinator to manage job priorities and scheduling.
