This position requires daily in-person attendance at our Irvine manufacturing facility, with occasional field service travel. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Control personnel, and management. Under limited supervision, your responsibilities within the test department encompass troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and calibrating electronic hardware. As a Senior Electronics Technician (ET), you will also conduct and document root cause failure analyses on customer-owned electronic devices and handle the repair and maintenance of company-owned hardware and test equipment. A systematic approach to collecting, testing, documenting, and communicating test and investigation results is essential. Effective communication with both internal and external customers through phone and email is crucial, demonstrating a strong commitment to meeting their needs.
Job Requirements:
- A four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in electronic testing within a manufacturing role.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending technical and non-technical documents, including contracts, product drawings, and specifications.
- Advanced skills in using common electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers, probes, and specialty tools.
- Experience with both through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT) assemblies, including the application of common rework tools.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar programs is a plus.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including effective file and record management.
- Ability to utilize precision hand measuring devices like calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, protractors, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to teach and explain methodologies effectively.
About Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, test, and calibrate AC and DC Power products following Engineering-defined test procedures.
- Provide training and mentorship to other technicians in the test department, instructing them on electronic assembly operation and repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC Power products down to the block diagram level.
- Troubleshoot and repair printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to the component level.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis on PCBA assemblies when required.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the block diagram-level operation and special functions of standard products.
- Familiarity with basic programming features of standard products.
- Create Level 1 and Level 2 reports for repairs when requested.
- Keep up-to-date with product descriptions and engage in educational opportunities to expand job knowledge.
