We are seeking a CNC Machinist with extensive experience to set up and operate various conventional and numerically controlled machining centers for complex and challenging jobs. This role involves working from blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions, and engineering data, and actively contributing to lean initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of independence in a team environment.
Job Requirements:
- Five or more years of directly related machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet customer needs.
- May require specialized certification specific to division requirements (e.g., certified operator).
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and following blueprints, complex drawings, engineering specifications, and informal instructions.
- Skilled in making and evaluating precision machine setups.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, which may include trigonometry.
- Able to implement lean initiatives.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong mentoring and training skills, serving as a resource to other team members.
- Ability to interpret reports and use job-specific software applications.
- Competent in using employee self-service systems to access online information and specialized automated systems.
- Demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
About Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently operates multiple machines, sometimes requiring simultaneous operations.
- Adapts or improvises tooling when necessary to meet demanding machining requirements.
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates various conventional and special-purpose 5-axis machines for the most diversified and challenging production operations.
- Interprets customer requirements from complex drawings, engineering specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Collaborates with engineering to resolve drawing errors, recommend design changes, and troubleshoot product/process issues.
- Implements manufacturing methods utilizing standard production machines, materials, and tooling and may contribute to tooling design.
- Performs complex setups, including multiple workpiece stations, using custom and standard holding devices.
- Develops and defines processes, even in the absence of complete documentation.
- Identifies and resolves machining problems effectively.
- Inspects finished parts for compliance with specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintains equipment for cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
- Performs statistical process control (SPC) as required.
- Applies advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and possesses a deep understanding of metal characteristics and processing requirements.
- Actively participates in lean initiatives and offers suggestions for improvement.
- Coordinates workload priorities to accommodate business demands.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures, including safety rules.
- Trains and mentors less experienced team members.
