We are seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist responsible for providing technical support in environmental, health, and safety to our company’s designated plant(s) and personnel. This role plays a crucial part in evaluating EHS programs, ensuring corporate and local objectives are met, and maintaining a safe work environment. The EHS Specialist is expected to influence behavior and encourage commitment among all personnel to comply with safety standards.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety, or a STEM-related discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety and health programs, policies, risk identification, control strategies, and federal and state regulations is preferred.
- Completion of OSHA 30-hour course is required.
- Knowledge of auditing processes (ISO, OSHA, or equivalent guidelines) is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, is required.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail are necessary.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve desired results.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment with limited supervision.
- Strong leadership, motivational, and presentation skills are required.
About Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a leader and advocate for continuous improvement in environment, health, and safety.
- Coach, counsel, and guide department leaders and team members to ensure adherence to EHS programs and policies.
- Conduct frequent facility inspections to identify and mitigate hazards posing risks to site personnel.
- Assist in the implementation of administrative programs for creating, distributing, and maintaining written programs, policies, procedures, and records, including SDS, lockout/tag-out procedures, and OSHA reporting.
- Develop site-specific work methods, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Lockout/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, risk assessments, etc.
- Assist in case management and investigations of injuries and post-accidents.
- Provide support to maintain compliance with wastewater and stormwater regulations.
- Perform facility inspections and audits in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and site-specific permits.
- Conduct and support employee training using company-provided training tools.
- Ensure adherence to the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
- Assist in maintaining OSHA 300 logs.
- Support Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs by driving participation, supplying essential data, and coaching.
- Track and report monthly Safety Scorecard requirements as needed.
- Perform other related job duties and projects as assigned.
- Assist the company's health plan with day-to-day activities related to protected health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
