Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of related inspection experience or a demonstrated ability to fulfill the described responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant military standards or specifications.
  • Possibility of certification as a Level II Nondestructive Test Inspector in at least three disciplines or as a Level III Examiner in at least one discipline, following MIL STD 410 and PES1 29 guidelines.
  • Proficiency in CMM operations and a background in dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, customer specifications, internal drawings, and procedures.
  • A thorough understanding of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and knowledge of electro-hydraulic servo systems and computer IEEE systems.
  • Personal hand tools may be necessary, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs may be required.

About Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and current records of acceptances and rejections, as well as certification systems as stipulated by relevant specifications.
  • Determine the acceptance or rejection of parts, tools, instruments, or X-ray film after inspection and calibration.
  • Identify defects and test failures, preparing all necessary documentation and calibration history.
  • Conduct inspections on complex parts using a diverse range of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Adapt and create intricate inspection setups for the evaluation of sample parts, forgings, and castings.
  • Examine tool and jig layouts, perform first article and envelope inspections, source inspections, and complex surface plate setups, making acceptance or rejection decisions based on specifications, charts, manuals, and other data.
  • Suggest modifications to supervisory staff and employ mathematical skills to convert blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate in accordance with drawings, schematics, blueprints, route sheets, travelers, quality directives, technical engineering specifications, customer requirements, and military standards.
  • Lay out all component part characteristics on rough or semi-machined castings, forgings, and machine parts to maintain control over the machining process during manufacturing.
  • Establish personal gauging setups on a surface plate using blocks, parallels, clamps, sine plates, and V blocks to take precise measurements with precision instruments.
  • Modify inspection equipment to accommodate standard, non-standard, and specialized products.
  • Investigate the reasons for customer returns and failures.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with applicable specifications within assembly, test, and shipping departments, providing assistance to customer/government source inspectors as needed.
  • Perform calibration on complex multifunctional electronic measuring and test equipment.
  • Configure calibration test conditions with various circuit requirements by interpreting calibration procedures, specifications, manufacturer's instructions, and related documents.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret drawings and electronic schematics, document and evaluate historical data to determine calibration intervals, and calibrate newly acquired complex electronic equipment.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly equipment and material checks.
  • Perform pre-inspection and post-inspection cleaning, set up equipment, conduct tests, interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Complete inspections in line with applicable specifications, standards, and contractual documents. Operate X-ray equipment and film processor. Select the appropriate method and technique for a specific inspection.
  • Prepare and verify the adequacy of inspection procedures, approving procedures, specifications, standards, and other written documents that govern inspections.
  • Oversee or conduct training and examinations for Level I, II, and III personnel.
  • Adhere to all prescribed safety regulations, maintain a Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free work area, and perform any other related duties.
