As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting department by delivering accurate financial reporting and effectively managing our accounting systems. Your work directly impacts our Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and various financial analyses.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- A minimum of five years of professional accounting experience.
- Profound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly experience with computerized ledger systems.
- Advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in Cost Accounting.
- Proficiency in handling multi-state sales tax and property tax matters.
- Preferred experience in system conversions.
- Proficiency in reconciling payroll and bank statements.
- Experience with cash reporting.
- Familiarity with fixed assets and inventory management is highly desired.
- Quick learner with the ability to multitask and work independently.
About Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare precise and timely financial statements according to our established schedule, collaborating closely with the accounting department.
- Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to maintain accurate reporting and ledger integrity.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies by thoroughly analyzing financial statements.
- Assess all inter-company transactions and create necessary journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts with meticulous attention to detail.
- Enhance organizational efficiency by implementing and overseeing internal audits.
- Document accounting procedures and periodically review them to ensure they remain current.
- Conduct inventory analysis to ensure accurate valuation.
- Develop a deep understanding of the supply chain and associated costs to help allocate costs for specific product lines.
- Generate recurring and ad-hoc management reports and analyses as needed.
- Promote departmental growth through effective cross-training in accounts payable, cash disbursements, and cash receipts processes.
- Prepare and record various journal entries, including those related to cash activities, accruals, reserves, and other month-end tasks.
- Lead the accounting system conversion effort while establishing robust internal controls and processes.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
